1. General disclaimer

PDFTools.studio offers free PDF tools, guides and comparison pages, written in good faith. We try to keep them correct, but we make no promise, express or implied, that any tool or page is accurate, complete, up to date or available at a given time.

2. File processing disclaimer

What a tool produces depends on the file you open: how it was made, its fonts, its images and its size. A result can differ from the original, and each tool page describes its known limits. These are the ones that matter most:

  • Office converters: Word to PDF, PPT to PDF and Excel to PDF carry over only the text or the cell values, in a plain layout; the fonts, images, charts and formatting of the original are not kept. PDF to Word and PDF to Excel carry over only the text: pictures are left out, and paragraphs and columns are rebuilt from where the text sits on the page, so tables and multi-column pages can come out rearranged. PDF to PPT puts a picture of each page on a slide, so the slide text cannot be edited.
  • Redaction: Redact PDF deletes the matching text from the page content and covers the place with a black box. It searches the text of the pages, not pictures, so a word that is part of an image, such as every word on a scanned page, is found only after OCR PDF has added a text layer, and only if OCR read it correctly. Even then, the picture under the box still shows the word unless the option that turns the redacted pages into images is ticked. Words in bookmarks or the document properties are reported but not removed. Check each redacted file before you share it.
  • Text recognition: OCR PDF reads the text from a picture of each page, so a blurry, skewed or low-contrast scan is recognised only in part and some words can be misread. Words with characters the text layer's standard font cannot draw, such as non-Latin scripts, are left out of the searchable layer. Check the text before you rely on it.

The tools never change the file you open; each result is a new file. Keep your original, and check each result before you rely on it or delete the original.

3. No warranty

You use the tools at your own risk. They are provided free and as they are, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, as far as the law allows. We do not promise that they will be available at any particular time, work in every browser or on every device, or that any error will be fixed.

4. External links disclaimer

The guides and comparison pages link to other websites, such as the sources behind a guide and the pages of the services being compared. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content or availability.

The comparison pages describe other PDF services as their own websites showed them on the date given on each page. Those services change their plans and features, so check their websites before you decide. Their names are trademarks of their owners, and PDFTools.studio is not affiliated with any of them.

5. Professional advice disclaimer

The tools, guides and comparison pages are not legal, financial or other professional advice. A signature added with Sign PDF or the PDF Editor is a picture placed on the page, not a certificate-based digital signature, and whether it is accepted depends on who receives it and on the law that applies. If a document matters legally or financially, ask a qualified professional before you rely on a result.
