Terms of Use
Last updated: October 6, 2026
1. Acceptance of terms
These terms apply when you use PDFTools.studio (the "Service"), the website and the PDF tools on it. By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Service description
PDFTools.studio provides a set of free, browser-based tools for editing, converting and organising PDF documents. There are no accounts, nothing to sign up for and nothing to pay. We may change, suspend or discontinue the Service, or any tool, at any time without notice.
3. Acceptable use
Use the Service only for lawful purposes. Do not use it to:
- Create or spread files meant to harm other people's devices or data.
- Break the law that applies to you, for example by forging a signature or altering a document to deceive someone.
- Infringe other people's copyright or other rights, for example by removing a watermark or a password from a document you have no right to change.
- Interfere with the website or the services it relies on, for example by sending it automated bulk requests, or by using the Webpage URL tab of HTML to PDF to send such requests to the public proxies that tab uses.
4. Intellectual property
The text, design and code of this website are protected by copyright. You may link to any page, but do not copy or republish the site or its content without permission. The tools are built on open-source libraries (pdf-lib, PDF.js, JSZip, html2canvas, Tesseract.js and qrcode-generator), and the site uses the Inter typeface; these belong to their authors and are used under their own licences. We claim no rights in the files you open or the results you make.
5. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided free, as it is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not promise that a tool will be available at a given time, work in every browser or give a correct result. Where the law does not allow a warranty to be excluded, this section applies only as far as the law allows.
A result can differ from the original in layout, fonts, images or content, and each tool page lists its limits; the disclaimer sets out the ones that matter most. The tools never change the file you open: each result is a new file. Keep your originals, and check every result before you rely on it, send it or delete the original.
6. Limitation of liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using the Service or from being unable to use it, including lost or damaged files, lost data, lost profits and any indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, and if you use the Service as a consumer, you keep the rights that consumer law gives you where you live.
7. Your files and your privacy
Every tool processes your documents inside your browser. Your files are not uploaded: we never receive, store or view them, and you keep all rights in them. Beyond loading code and fonts, two tools use the internet, and neither sends your file. OCR PDF downloads its recognition engine and language data. The Webpage URL tab of HTML to PDF requests the address you type from that website and, if that does not work, through a public proxy (api.allorigins.win, then corsproxy.io), so that address leaves your device.
Where your device's time zone is in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, Google Analytics runs only after you accept it in the cookie banner. In other time zones no banner is shown and it runs until you switch it off in Cookie settings. Google AdSense is not active yet: no ads are shown and no AdSense code loads. The privacy policy and cookie policy explain what is collected and how to change your choice.
8. Who may use the Service
If you are under 13, or under the higher age your country sets for consent to online services, use the Service only with a parent or guardian's permission. There is no guaranteed support, but you can email us with questions. We may block access for anyone who breaks the rules in section 3.
9. Third-party libraries and services
The tools load open-source libraries from content delivery networks (cdnjs, and jsDelivr for the OCR engine's core and its language data), and Sign PDF and the PDF Editor load handwriting fonts from Google Fonts for a typed signature. The Webpage URL tab of HTML to PDF uses the public proxies named in section 7. Those services have their own terms, and we are not responsible for their availability or conduct.
10. Changes to terms
We may change these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. If you keep using the Service after a change, the new terms apply to that use.
11. Contact
Questions about these terms go to support@pdftools.studio. The form on the contact page opens your own email app with a message to that address; the site itself sends nothing.
