Key features of JPG to PDF
Each image becomes its own page, and the page is sized to the image's pixel dimensions, so nothing is cropped, scaled or padded with margins.
The JPEG data is embedded with pdf-lib exactly as it is in the file. Nothing is re-encoded, so the picture looks the same as the original.
The images are read and combined by JavaScript in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, and there is no account or watermark.
About JPG to PDF
JPG to PDF creates a new document with pdf-lib and embeds each image with its embedJpg method (a PNG file is accepted too and goes through embedPng). Every page is given the width and height of its image, so a 3000 by 2000 pixel photo becomes a 3000 by 2000 point page. Pages follow the order in which you added the files.
It is handy for sending a stack of scanned receipts as one attachment, turning phone photos of a whiteboard into a single document, or collecting a batch of screenshots in one file. The tool does not resize, rotate or compress images, and there is no page size or margin option. If the result is too large to email, run it through Compress PDF afterwards.
When to use JPG to PDF
You photographed the pages of a signed contract with your phone and the other side wants one file back. Add the photos in page order, convert, and email images_combined.pdf. If a page comes out sideways, run the result through Rotate PDF; this tool does not read the orientation flag that phones store inside a photo, so a picture that looks upright in your gallery can land on its side.
A client wants a set of product photos or a portfolio as a single document. Each JPG keeps its full resolution, so a set of 12 megapixel photos produces a large PDF. If size matters more than detail, shrink the photos first with Compress Images and convert the smaller copies here.
An application portal accepts only PDF and you have a JPG of a certificate, an ID card or a receipt. Drop the one file and you get a one-page PDF at the image's size, with nothing added around it.
Some jobs belong to a neighbouring tool. To add photos to a PDF you already have, convert them here and join the two files with Merge PDF, or place a single picture on an existing page with PDF Add Image. To make the words in photographed documents searchable, run the result through OCR PDF. For WebP or GIF files, use Scan to PDF, which redraws any image your browser can display before embedding it.
Tips and troubleshooting
- The error card that reads Failed to convert images names the first file the tool cannot use. A file that is not JPEG or PNG data, such as a WebP or GIF picture, can be converted separately with Scan to PDF. A file reported as incomplete or damaged was cut off in a download or copy, so fetch it again. Click Try Again (which reloads the page) and leave that file out.
- Each file may be up to 150 MB. A larger file shows the message File name is too large and the whole selection is ignored, so pick the others again without it. The limit is per file, not per batch.
- Every image and the growing PDF are held in the tab's memory until the download is ready, so a batch of several hundred full-size photos can exhaust it. Convert in smaller batches and join the parts with Merge PDF.
- Thumbnails cannot be dragged. Pages follow the order in which you added the files; to move one, remove it with the button on its thumbnail and add it again so it goes to the end, or fix the order afterwards with Reorder Pages.
- The page size is the image size in points: a photo 4000 pixels wide becomes a page 4000 points (about 141 cm) wide. Viewers zoom it to fit the window, and the print dialog can scale it to paper.
- The download is always named images_combined.pdf, even when you convert a single image. Rename it after saving.
- Preview Document opens the finished file in your browser's built-in PDF viewer; this page does not load pdf.js. If the frame stays empty, the Download File button still works.
- A photo of a document becomes a page of pixels, with no text to search or copy. How to make a scanned PDF searchable covers photos as well as scans, and how to add a text layer with OCR PDF.
How JPG to PDF works in your browser
Every file you add stays in the page as a File object, and its thumbnail is drawn from a local object URL, so nothing is decoded or copied until you click Convert to PDF. At that point pdf-lib, loaded once from cdnjs.cloudflare.com, creates an empty document. Each file is read into memory, and its first bytes say whether it is a JPEG or a PNG: a JPEG is passed to embedJpg and a PNG to embedPng. A file that was cut off in a download or copy is refused at this point. pdf-lib copies the JPEG bytes into an image object without decoding or re-encoding them, adds a page whose width and height equal the image's pixel dimensions, and draws the image at the page origin. The progress bar moves from 20 to 90 percent as the images are processed.
The finished document is serialised with save() into a byte array, wrapped in a Blob, and handed to the result card. Download File gives that Blob to the browser through a temporary blob URL; Preview Document shows it in a frame. No image, no page and no file name is sent over the network. Closing the tab discards everything.
Frequently asked questions
Can I combine several images into one PDF?
Yes. Select several files at once, or click + Add More Images after the first batch. Each image becomes one page in a single PDF, in the order you added them.
Are the images compressed or resized?
No. The JPEG data is embedded unchanged and each page matches the image's pixel size. If the file ends up too large, use Compress PDF on the result.
Which image formats work?
JPG and JPEG, plus PNG. The file picker also lets you choose other image types such as WebP or GIF, but those cannot be embedded and the conversion stops with an error, so convert them to JPG or PNG first.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The page runs in a mobile browser and Choose Files opens your photo library. Every image is held in memory while the PDF is built, so keep a batch of large photos small on a phone.
Can I change the page order after adding images?
Not by dragging. Remove an image with the button on its thumbnail and add it again so it lands at the end, or convert first and then use Reorder Pages on the PDF.
Will the PDF be bigger than my JPG files?
Only slightly. The JPEG bytes are copied into the PDF unchanged and each page adds a small amount of structure, so a PDF made from 5 MB of photos is a little over 5 MB.
